Cities are important areas for nature conservation, often containing high numbers of species at risk of extinction. Also, over three-quarters of Canadians live in cities. Urban parks and greenspaces are city-dwellers primary opportunity to connect with nature. Dr. Buxton’s research explores the connection between urban nature and people’s mental health. Through these connections the goal is to find ways to better mobilize nature conservation, to make cities where nature and people thrive.
