About this Event

Join the Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library (HBFoL) at the historic Clark Building for a free landmark panel exploring the intersection of science fiction history and the future of the genre. Whether you are a lifelong fan of space opera or a contemporary reader of epic fantasy, this symposium offers a rare look at how "the future" is built.

The Legacy Panel

We are proud to bring together a powerhouse lineup of industry icons, bestselling authors, and historians:

  • Erin Gray: The legendary star of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. As a pioneer of sci-fi television, Erin brings a unique perspective on the genre's silver-screen evolution and its lasting impact on pop culture.
  • Scott Baron: Bestselling author of The Dragon Mage and The Clockwork Chimera series. Scott represents the modern pulse of sci-fi, blending high-stakes adventure with contemporary storytelling.
  • Moderator Steve Truitt: Author, Discovery Channel host, and NASA historian. Steve bridges the gap between real-world space exploration and the infinite possibilities of speculative fiction.
  • Plus Special Guest Reveals: Our roster is expanding! We will be unveiling additional contemporary sci-fi voices as we approach the event. Follow the HBFoL for upcoming guest announcements.

Why Attend?
  • Professional Insights: Hear a deep-dive discussion on world-building, character legacy, and the evolving sci-fi landscape.
  • Book Sales & Signings: We are proud to partner with The Fleuria, Hermosa Beach’s premier local independent bookstore, for on-site sales and a post-panel signing session.
