Free entry gig with two amazing bands from Bristol...SCHNAUSER:
Schnauser's peculiar blend of psychedelic prog-jazz pop bursts forth with the kind of cloud bursting melodies, abrupt chord changes, wonky tempos and lyrical impishness beloved by fans of Soft Machine, XTC, Frank Zappa, Viv Stanshall and Field Music.
Lyrically they tell poignant stories of the nagging neuroses bubbling under the surface of everyday life, shot through with dark black humour, dry wit and inappropriate 9/8 fuzzbox usage.
Come and hear tales of selling parts of your anatomy to be processed into cheap tasty meat, apoplectic fury at being missold PPI insurance, and the bleak existential horror of being set adrift in space (accompanied only by your mother).
THE BRACKISH:
A 4-piece experimental band from Bristol, UK. First formed in 2012, the band have released five albums and will release their sixth in November 2025.
The Brackish sound is characterised by its use of dynamics, long-form composition and improvisation. Face melting heavyness gives way to gentle, spacious soundscapes within a single composition. Kraut-like grooves, polyrhythms, violent melodic statements and psychedelic, freeform improvisation are present in equal measure. Always expressed with a strong emphasis on melody and narrative, aiming to take the listener on journeys of much needed escapism...
