About this Event
The global trade environment is undergoing rapid transformation. With shifting geopolitical alliances, post-Brexit trade arrangements, and the rise of digital and green trade, Scotland faces a distinct set of challenges and opportunities within the broader UK and international context.
In support of the SCGA State of the World project, this workshop provides a unique forum to strengthen evidence-based policymaking through dialogue between academics and government practitioners; position Scotland at the forefront of innovative thinking on sustainable and inclusive trade policy; and identify collaborative research opportunities aligned with Scotland’s trade and industrial strategic priorities.
Two expert panels bring together academic experts to discuss the latest developments in the international trade system and what they mean for Scotland and the UK. Participants will then engage in more sustained reflection on how Scotland can best navigate these changes through a roundtable discussion and networking breaks.
Speakers include: Emily Jones (Oxford University), Scott Lavery (University of Glasgow), Chad Damro (University of Edinburgh), Gabriel Siles Brügge (University of Bristol), Maha Rafi Atal (University of Glasgow), Silke Trommer (University of Manchester) and Lindsey Garner Knapp (Cardiff University).
The event is organised by Julia Calvert, Senior Lecturer in International Political Economy and James Scott, Reader in International Politics.
