The Singletary Center for the Arts presents SCFA Expansive Sounds Series #6Flore Laurentienne: The musical project of Canadian composer and musician Mathieu David Gagnon, draws its name from the rich flora of Quebec's Laurentian region. With intricate arrangements that blend live string ensembles, synthesizers, and organic field recordings, Gagnon crafts music that is both cinematic and contemplative. His compositions evoke a deep sense of atmosphere, inviting listeners into a serene and expansive auditory journey that resonates with the beauty and tranquility of nature.
Brìghde Chaimbeul: A native Gaelic speaker from the Isle of Skye, Brìghde roots her music in her language and culture. She rose to prominence as a prodigy of traditional music, but has since begun a journey to take the smallpipes into uncharted territory. She has devised a completely unique way of arranging for pipe music that emphasizes the rich textural drones of the instrument; the constancy of sound that creates a trance-like atmosphere, played with enticing virtuosic liquidity.
This performance will be in the SCFA Recital Hall. All ages welcome. Free tickets available for University of Kentucky students at the SCFA Ticket Office, student ID required.
