This is a 6-week Acting Course taught by Julie Lockfeld.
During this six-week course acting students will learn to use the framework of Method Acting techniques to recognize what is most important to the story. Students will memorize a scripted scene with a partner. We will practice exercises in class that encourage authentic engagement with partners deep personal understanding and creative inspiration that will bring a felt experience and embodied characters to our stage. Actors gain confidence in approaching a new script working with others and allowing inner truths to be revealed.
Julie Dimas-Lockfeld has taught acting classes in San Francisco since 1980. She began teaching Movement for Actors at the Stage Group Theatre School under the direction of Wendell Phillips where she had completed a full-time acting program and was an acting member of the ensemble company for 10 years. She was a founding member of the Phoenix Theatre performing in plays and teaching similar bodywork inspired acting classes. It was there she began directing and continues to direct plays. She taught acting classes at the Academy of Art University for twelve years and has been teaching and directing plays at the Shelton Theater over the course of several decades. Her work has received critical recognition and awards always in acknowledgement of ensemble excellence.
