SCALA Live is on again in December! Join us for another evening of excellent original music, with two showcase acts and a spotlight.
This month we've got our 2025 FOOM Live Winners followed by the "Filtered Light" Album Launch by Andrew Coutts with Su, Noni and Maddy Diamond. We also have John Ward as the SCALA spotlight.
FOOM Live Winners:
1. Andy Armstrong (with Marta Bayly)
Andy is an extremely accomplished songwriter and singer who appeared on national television for ten years, writing and presenting the music for The Bookplace. Andy and Marta form a captivating duo who have created their own unique blend of folk, country and acoustic-pop, and when the voices of these two blend you can feel the magic in the air.
2. Ben Roberts
Ben Roberts is a talented multi-instrumentalist who is also an extraordinary song writer. A member of the much loved Ukelele Death Squad and the Timbers, he has recently kicked off the brand new duo, Castle Bats.
3. Alex Aubrey (and band)
Alex has been playing solo for some years and recently has wowed SCALA audiences with her unconventional song writing and indie- folk with jazz/blues influences. "My songs are quirky and tend to have a swing feel to them." In this performance Alex will play as a band with three others.
Album Launch:
"Filtered Light" by Andrew Coutts
with Su Coutts, Noni Espinosa and Maddy Diamond
Andrew came into songwriting late, inspired by his daughter, Maddy. Drawing from folk and indie influences, Andrew primarily writes songs of places he has been and people he has met over a long career in and out of uniform. The album "Filtered Light" was recorded this year at Studio Light in collaboration with a number of talented musicians, some of who will join Andrew for the launch.
And our Spotlight: John Ward
Doors open 7.00pm Show starts at 7.30pm
FREE entry for SCALA members, $10 for everyone else. Tickets at the door.
