Many businesses have chosen to set ambitious climate targets and pursue validation from the SBTi. This has become a significant standard in leading the way to a Net Zero economy, innovating business models and delivering reductions both in operations and supply chains. SBTi is not the only way to demonstrate these commitments, yet over 4,000 businesses have validated targets and will continue to do so in the coming years.

In 2023 alone, there was a 245% increase in the number of companies setting Net Zero targets. While no standard is perfect, SBTi has significantly advanced the way companies approach their emissions reporting. By fostering better data accuracy, increased transparency, scalability, and innovation, SBTi has made a substantial impact on corporate sustainability efforts.

This session will look at companies’ SBTi commitments at a time when these are evolving and becoming increasingly difficult to achieve, due to additional data requirements and sector-specific considerations.
