Sydney Blues Society Awards for Blues Band of the Year 2025
Led by the 2023 Memphis International Blues Challenge Winner and 7 time SBS Award winner Frank Sultana and featuring 2025 SBS blues harmonica player of the year Dan Sullivan, legendary Foreday Riders bassist Stan Mobbs and drummer Adrian Herbert.
Those who have lived and breathed the Sydney live music scene, especially those with a penchant for blues and soul music, may already be familiar with Jo Fabro. Her rich and soulful voice has rained down on listeners in venues and at festivals across the country for over a decade, during which time she has steadily built a core of dedicated followers. Joining her band for this special one-off appearance will be the legendary Sydney guitarist Ray Beadle.
With a career that spans over four decades and right across the globe, Pat Powell (Patou) is one of Australia’s most accomplished vocal talents. He is the artist that everyone wants to work with. Having shared a stage with a number of musical giants over the past four decades, Patou has had time to hone the art for commanding attention. His genius as a vocalist is a unique combination of soulful understatement and compelling passion. In charismatic exchanges with his audience he appeals to young and old with his message of joy and social justice.
Jack & the Axes this power trio from Newcastle won the 2025 SBS Blues Challenge and feature talented front man Anyerin Drury on guitar/vox & occasionally organ too and are one of the best up and coming blues acts in the country.
Bonnie Kay and the Sweet Patooties are a 5-piece band of ladies playing sassy, bawdy blues and jazz from the 1920’s and 30’s and beyond plus some original music too. They will bring the fun with 4-part harmonies, horn lines, dynamite soloists and a red-hot rhythm section: It swings, it drives, it jives, it will knock your socks off!
Big Mama, Ms Courtney and The Honky Tonk Parade serve up a soulful blend of rhythm and blues with grit, groove, and plenty of heart. Fronted by powerhouse vocalist Fran “Big Mama” Liddle and chanteuse Courtney Severini, their voices light up the room, the band brings swagger, sass, and a good dose of joy to every stage — a foot-stomping, hip-shaking celebration of classic blues and Rock n Roll.
And to round things off will be our young, talented & super funky ‘Future of the Blues’ band under the musical direction of George Rigatos. Come and see them strut their stuff for your listening pleasure.
