About this Event
Say What?! Open Mic at Coffee Underground featuring team member Azar King of Greenville, SC! All poetry styles welcome! The night will also feature a full night of open mic slots for local poets on a first-come, first serve basis. Host Kimberly Simms.
Azar King—P.O.E.T, POEMEDIAN, FATHER, CREATIVE—is a clear example of what never giving up looks like. Originally from Myrtle Beach, SC, he has been residing in Greenville, SC for the last 5 years. Rather than call his poems poetry, he has simply titled them The Scriptures of My Legacy.
He won back-to-back slams in Fountain Inn and went on to rank at the top in slams across states, finishing second in both the King of the South Slam and Grand Slam in 2024. A member of the Say What Slam Team for 3 years, he often describes himself as a Tornado, giving you a twist of words with clear imagery.
From Big M boots to designer suits, he refuses to let his past hinder his future. And with aliases such as MR.GOOOTTTDDDAAAAYYYUUMMMHIMSELF and Azar-15, his lyrics are definitely LAZAR BEAMZ.
