About this Event
Come celebrate this Thursday as we mark the two-year anniversary of our storytelling salon, hosted by Al Gonzales and John McDonagh.
What began as BQE2QED at the Q.E.D. Comedy Club in Astoria, Queens, has found a new home in the Malachy McCourt Room at O’Malley’s, on 27th Street between Third and Lexington. On that very first night, Rev. Billy and Malachy McCourt christened the salon—setting it on a path that has carried us forward for two unforgettable years.
This Thursday marks a first for the salon. We are honored to welcome Nobel Peace Prize winner Seth Shelden, General Counsel and U.N. Liaison for the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. Seth will bring the Nobel Peace Prize medal he received in Norway, which will be on display for all to see.
Joining him will be an extraordinary lineup of storytellers:
- Miss UNeek — First Nation Bronx native, activist, award-winning international slam poet, proud mother, and author of Life Tried to Starve Me: Food for the Body, Mind, and Soul
- Brendan Fay- Founder of the Irish LGBTQ group Lavender & Green Alliance; activist, storyteller, and Irish American treasure.
- Ed Gavagan-Beloved raconteur known for his honesty, vulnerability, and wit. A Moth winner.
- Mary Goggin — New York–based actor, born to Irish emigrants, raised in the Bronx, and a professional performer for over 25 years
John Mc Donagh will close out the night with a story about how he got Zohran Mamdani elected Mayor of New York City.
Two years in, and the stories keep getting better. Join us.
