$35/25The debut performance of Saxedonia draws inspiration from the Texas–based band Freedonia, founded by Christopher Cross. Embracing a sophisticated, interwoven three horn-driven sound, this ensemble is deeply influenced by the LA jazz-rock studio scene with a sonic nod to Steely Dan’s Aja era.
Lead by Bruce Smyth (drums) to bring Freedonia’s music to life, with the help of ex-Canberra stalwart Viktor Rufus (guitar), adapting this music to create a powerful, multi-layered live experience. Alongside Kieran Sloan and Lucy Ridge (vocals), backed by some of Canberra’s finest saxophonists, Oisin-Smith Coburn, Tom Walsh, and Danny Junor, is Sharon Robinson (keys) and Scott Temby (bass) – all coming together for one night only.
