This discussion-based, interactive workshop helps doulas, midwives, and childbirth educators understand the systems their clients give birth in, and learn practical strategies for navigating hospital policies, power dynamics, and the evidence-practice gap.
Designed by Evidence Based Birth® and facilitated by Javi Avilés-Sáez (they/she), Certified EBB Instructor, this workshop is ideal for anyone who supports clients through decision-making, informed consent, and collaborative care during pregnancy and birth.
During this 3-hour session, you will:
* Define evidence-based care and review local birth-setting statistics
* Explore why the evidence-practice gap exists, including power structures in maternity care
* Identify strategies to bridge this gap at the system and individual level
* Learn respectful, practical ways to help clients assert their rights and access evidence-based care
* Build confidence in guiding clients through informed decision-making
Approved by most doula organizations for 3 CE hours.
