Welcome back to our monthly ecstatic dance, being held on the last Friday of every month, here in San Antonio, TX.
We are so thrilled to be able to continue holding this dance at the wonderful Synergy Studio (pic above).
We follow the traditional ecstatic dance format created and developed in Austin, TX within the past 25 yrs. This format includes two dance waves, consisting of a warmup wave, opening circle, main wave dance and closing circle.
This month, Marco (aka Eòn Màize), a local San Antonio native, will be once again serving as our musical curator for our dancing journeys! Although relatively new to the ecstatic dance scene, Eòn has a lot to offer with a background as an Alternative DJ in the distant past and also a graduate of the Eden Ecstatic Dance DJ training course taught by Samadhi, respectively one of Austin and Houston's most experienced ecstatic dance facilitators/DJ's.
Eòn describes what brought him to curating ecstatic dance music...
“At my very first Ecstatic Dance, I was able to release tears of joy; the only other time I was able to experience this was in deep yoga practice. I never looked back, I knew that this was something that I wanted to do for the rest of my life”.
Eòn flows with the Samadhi musical chakra map, which consists of three waves to take you through an alchemical dance experience.
For those that are unfamiliar with ecstatic dance, it is a held sacred space for body movement (dance) to explore authentic expression, playfulness, and connection. In support of a safe container…. no videos or photos are allowed, the space is alcohol and drug free, and consent is key!
Dance schedule:
7:00pm - Doors open, warm-up dance
7:50pm - Opening circle
8:05pm - Main wave dance
9:05pm - Closing circle and sharing/announcements
