Free public solar viewing event, everyone is welcome to attend.Come join the Back Bay Amateur Astronomers (BBAA) for this solar viewing event.
Have you ever wanted to look at sunspots or solar prominences on the Sun? Now is your chance. The amateur astronomers in the BBAA have safe methods for solar viewing using specially designed solar filters and purpose built Hydrogen-Alpha Solar Scopes. We also like to talk about astronomy so you might learn a thing or two about the Sun. Come to the Elizabeth River Park and view our closest star, the Sun.
Our events are weather dependent. The BBAA will only setup their telescopes if the weather is conducive for astronomy viewing. If the weather before an event looks questionable please check the BBAA official calendar for event cancellations here: http://backbayastro.org/calendar.php.
