Tui-Eilish Tahere-Katene is 19 years old & has just begun her early childhood teaching journey at Te Kōhanga Reo o Turoa in Otaki. Tui is aptly named after the beautiful singing bird ‘Me he korokoro Tūī’ She has just completed the recording of her new waiata based on Parihaka called ‘Warriors of Peace’. Tui sings both locally throughout Wellington & Kapiti & nationally for sports events & corporate gigs. Tui’s big events for 2025 included: Gardens Magic, Waitangi Festival, Matariki Festival, Ōtaki Kite Festival, Wgtn Gold Awards, NZ International Teachers Conference, Bay of Plenty Rugby Stadium singing, Courtenay Precinct, Governor General’s Matariki Banquet & lead performer in Kapiti College Parihaka Production. This year Tui will be performing at Waitangi Treaty Grounds!
