We might get rained out, but YOU NEVER KNOW, so I will keep this on until I'm sure we can't play. I will post here at least 1 hour before the event to confirm or cancel.DETAILS:
This is co-ed pickup Sand Volleyball for experienced-recreational and intermediate-level players (please read details below before attending).
Location is at the Sand Volleyball Courts in Berkley Park. Google maps may take you to the wrong place (They are located on the river, across from Union Apartments).
If you would like to attend, please:
1 - Please reply "going" to this invite. If you have not responded, you will not be able to play.
2 - Please arrive AT THE START TIME. Arriving later makes it difficult for us to get started so if you appreciate this event, please arrive on time.
3 - Read the "Skill Expectations" and "Game Flow" expectations below. Please be familiar and comfortable with these expectations before attending.
4 - There is a water fountain with bottle filler and porta-potty nearby. *** Bring multiple bottles of water for yourself as a backup. ***
5 - Highly recommend buying and bringing "sand socks" (get them on Amazon) to deal with the very hot sand at the public courts.
This event started with a group of friends that gets together to play pickup volleyball games at the Berkley Riverfront Park's sand VB courts. Please be respectful of our efforts to keep everything organized and inclusive.
Skill Expectations: This is a fun, experienced-recreational-level game. Players should already know and try to use the standard volleyball skills β passing with a solid forearm platform (hands together, not separate), setting with hands above the head, and serving to get the ball in play. Perfect form isnβt required, but players should be familiar with the correct techniques and make an effort to use them.
Game Flow: Players should be comfortable rotating, calling the ball, and keeping rallies going. The designated setter will take the second ball whenever possible, unless they call for help β this keeps the game organized and makes rallies smoother. Players should already have experience playing this way.
Safety Rule: If you are going up to the net to hit or block and your feet or body repeatedly land on the other side of the net, you will be coached to stop doing that (it can cause serious injury to other players or yourself). If you continue, you will be asked to leave.
- This event is for ADULTS young and old. If you are not sure, ask.
