As Reggaeville magazine says, ‘To call this child natural would be and understatement’. At just 16 years old KAIRO MCLEAN is a true connoisseur of the genre, deeply familiar with all aspects of reggae, rocksteady & sound-system culture. He has learned the most tedious of details that only a seasoned scholar of reggae would know, and this is evident every time he grabs the mic. When it comes to his own compositions, Kairo is as old-school as it gets, drawing influences from Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Sugar Minott & Peter Tosh. This young artist knows the tradition, studied the history, and has developed his own style and unique flare, all of which allowed him to become the youngest person to ever win a Juno!
This concert is a rare opportunity to see a bona fide rising star in the early stage of his ascendence, solo, on proper sound system, in an intimate environment.
He’ll be backed up by the mighty DUB CHRONICLES for a concert that’s sure to be historic. This is a show that no Toronto reggae enthusiast should miss!
*** NOTE: this concert will be on a new, EARLIER time schedule than previous instalments of Saturday Night Rockers - DOORS are opening at 8PM and the show starting at 9PM SHARP! There will be just one long set of live music rather than two ***
