About our DJs:
Ian O Donoghue (Bande a Part):
Having always been heavily into music yet unimpressed by most mainstream drivel, Ian started buying hip-hop and house music in the late 80s and then moved into drum & bass, dodging the police and playing on East London pirate stations Defection FM and Weekend Rush in the early 90s. He then started moving backwards through the decades, becoming addicted to the blues and its sibling, jump blues, and began buying up 45s. Ian Donoghue founded the Bande à Part R&B Club in 2007, which ran monthly until 2020, focusing mainly on the 1950-60s American blues & rhythm sound but with a broad music policy encompassing everything from latin, ska, rocksteady, rockabilly and even a touch of soul. The Bande à Part Club now returns for occasional one-off specials when Ian can be arsed. Whenever he plays expect it to be punctuated by endless horns, grunts, screams and moans. Lol.
Andrew Flynn
Andrew Flynn has been collecting records for a long time. He initially got interested in it via rap music in the early 90s and this led him to the samples lead to collecting funk & jazz 45s. For the last 15 years he has focused more on 1950s/60s blues rnb and doo wop . Andrew has run gigs in his hometown Limerick since the 2000s and was co-promoter for the Rhythm N Booze weekender which had an array of international guests. Andrew feels lucky to play some fabulous clubs including the Federal Club and For Dancers Only. He has played to support big name acts like Lee Fields , Marva Whitney, Junior Murvin and Nile Rogers in Ireland. Andrew us coming to the Macbeth all the way from Ireland and is looking forward to playing London for the first time.
