About this Event

Come along to Moruya Library for our regular monthly Saturday matinee movie.

Set during the 1970s in southwestern Australia this film is an adaption of Australian writer Tim Winton’s popular novel. It tells the story of two teens, Piklet and Loonie, as their love for surfing grows under the tutelage of the mysterious Sando, an older surfer and adventurer. As the risks they take continue to rise, the lasting impact of their actions effect not only their relationship but the directions of their lives.

Described as the quintessential Australian film, the movie addresses the themes of fear, courage and self-discovery ever present in Tim Winton’s canon. Directed by and starring Simon Baker, it also features Richard Roxburgh in a supporting role. Beautifully filmed, this recent production has quickly become an Australian classic that shows our nation’s filmmaking at its best.

Enjoy the film, refreshments, and a chat. Due to licensing restrictions we cannot advertise the movie name. Please ask our friendly library staff for more information.

Free session. Eventbrite bookings essential.
