The California Transit Authority (CTA) stands as the visionary creation of renowned drummer and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Danny Seraphine, who also co-founded the legendary band Chicago. As a pivotal force in Chicago’s rhythmic foundation for 23 years, Danny was instrumental in crafting the band’s signature sound and played a key role in their resurgence during the 1980s. After departing from Chicago in 1990, Danny returned in 2007, responding to fans’ desire for the dynamic, horn-infused sound that captivated greats like Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix.
Danny Seraphine established CTA to recapture the essence of that era, infused with a contemporary twist. Critics have described the band as “Chicago on steroids.”
CTA features a lineup of exceptional talents:
🎸 Marc Bonilla, a virtuoso guitarist, channels the spirit of Terry Kath with a mix of intensity, finesse, and daring showmanship.
🎹 Ed Roth, an accomplished keyboardist, has worked with artists such as Annie Lennox, Chad Smith, and Keith Emerson. As a solo artist, Roth adds richness and adaptability to CTA’s music.
🎤 Travis Davis, serving as bassist and lead vocalist, has contributed his voice to network programs and collaborated onstage with Slash, Alice Cooper, and more.
🎤 Sara Niemietz, a vocal powerhouse and multi-instrumentalist, boasts of a career that includes Broadway and global tours. Her soulful presence infuses CTA’s performances with renewed vitality.
Together, CTA has released two highly praised albums that merge original compositions with reinvented classics, addressing the question: “What if Chicago had continued their ’70s musical journey?”
