Program Vision:

Our intention for this Healing and Wellness Series is to offer our community curated healing and wellness practices across various modalities that collectively nurture us amid the tumultuous times we find ourselves in. Our goal is to disrupt the status quo of stress, isolation, and limited resources for accessible, inclusive health, wellness, and care by providing a wealth of sorely needed offerings. Through the series, we will strive to create an immersive multisensory experience that rebuilds connections between the mind, body, and soul, and bridges between one another.

YOGA

2:00-3:15PM

Influenced by her practice in multiple forms of the yoga discipline, Elena teaches with a focus on energetic alignment and intentional sequencing. Her hope is to create a unique practice for her students; through movement, breath work, and simple mediation, a space to be curious and become more deeply rooted in the evolution of themselves.

Intro to Strength Training

3:30-4:45PM

Transmasc Strength - Discussion + Movement; This class is intended for transmasc/gender-non-conforming individuals that desire a more masculine/gender-neutral build. The discussion portion of this class will include topics such as the benefits of strength training as it applies to building a masculinized figure, how strength training can lead to better top surgery results, and what strength training might look like while taking Testosterone (T). I will also leave time for an open question discussion. The movement portion will consist of further demonstration and instruction on the movement patterns previously discussed, as well as application and form check of those movement patterns.

Kasper (they/he) is a NASM certified personal trainer, former Denison University Student Athletic Trainer, and former 4- year NCAA Athlete. As someone who has experienced gender/body dysmorphia, Kasper's approach to fitness is about more than just strength and the desire to improve fitness levels. Not only does Kasper believe consistent exercise can solve many of the chronic pains and illnesses faced by the general population today, but for the trans and queer community fitness can mean building a body that feels like YOU. Kasper works with queer/trans/gender non-conforming clients to provide gender-affirming body recomposition training, as well as to prep/recover from gender-affirming surgeries. Kasper is committed to personal research to trans-specific fitness, and have collaborated with multiple board-certified surgeons to develop and refine my training strategies centered around such procedures.
