Sapphic Speed Dating | Boston LGBTQ+ Singles | 25-45

Dating can feel like a lot. Apps are exhausting, small talk the worst, and somehow everyone is either too cool or unavailable. So we’re trying to do something to make things better. This event is geared towards folks ages 25-45.

Join us for an evening designed to make meeting people feel a little more human and a lot less intimidating. We’ll start with low-pressure icebreakers to get everyone grounded (and to prove that, yes, everyone here is a person like you). Then we’ll move into structured speed dating, followed by an open social hour where you can keep the conversation going in a more relaxed setting.

Nervous? Baby, there’s no need. If you need help getting in the fray, Bisexual Killjoy’s co-host, Bailey Merlin, will be there to help you be brave and talk to the sapphic of your dreams. She wants to be thanked in a wedding toast, a commitment ceremony, a house warming, a Subaru co-signing, and/or a cat adoption, so she’d be happy to take you under her wing.

Light snacks and beverages provided (so you’ll have something to do with your hands).

What’s “sapphic”?

Sapphic is an inclusive umbrella term for women, including trans women and some nonbinary people, who are attracted to other women. We want bisexuals, pansexuals, lesbians, and all other sapphics in this space. Transphobia, lesbiphobia, and biphobia will not be tolerated. Keep it classy and kind.

What’s the age range at this event?

This event is for ages 25 to 45. If the event is successful, we can host more for different age ranges! Invest in community and community will invest in you.

Are trans women welcome?

Trans women are women! Get in here, babe.

Are non-binary people welcome?

If the sapphic label feels like it aligns with you, you should be in the space. The world spends a lot of time trying to tell queer people what to do, and we’re not interested in piling onto that.

Can I come just to make friends?

If you come to a speed dating event, you should be open to both romance and friendships. We support all types of relationships at speed dating, so we encourage people to write down who they’re interested in, either romantically or platonically. Still, you have to be open to both. What’s the process/overview of speed dating?

Show up on time and check in with one of our hosts to make a name tag with your name and pronouns. You’ll also be given a dating card that you’ll use to indicate who you’re interested in either romantically or platonically. After we’re warmed up, about 30 minutes into the evening, you’ll go on as many 5-minute dates as possible in an hour.

How are the dates assigned? Do I only speak to people I am romantically interested in?

Dates are randomly assigned and are based on where you sit! Because we host inclusive speed dating, we can’t guarantee that everyone at the event is someone that you will be romantically interested in and/or vice-versa. We encourage you to be open to multiple types of relationships, including friendships. If you want to friendzone someone, we can do that for you over email.

When do I get my matches?

We will send you an email within 24 hours with all of your matches as long as you fill out our contact form, which you’ll fill out upon arrival.

What happens if I don’t get any matches?

You’ll get an email from us regardless. If you don’t receive any matches, we encourage you to try again! Dating is not easy.

Are matches anonymous?

Yes. You keep a personal list (the dating card) of who you like and the only person that will see it is Bailey. We do this to avoid people being pressured into matching/giving out their contact info. We ask that you do not share contact info during your dates to avoid this issue as well. We're trying to make people feel comfortable.

How do you use my information that I put in the contact form?

We don’t share your information with anyone but mutual matches. We send you an email with your matches and their phone numbers, and they receive the same with your phone number. Bailey is the only one with access to this information.

Why is someone taking my picture?

We need photos for social media to prove that, yes, these events happen. If you don’t want to be photographed or posted on our page, please let us know before the event starts.
