Mondays are for good games, good drinks, and even better competition. Our weekly Santa Monica Chess Club is back—but this time with an optional fast-paced tournament for players ready to put their skills to the test.
Come early to settle in, grab a drink, and play casually—or jump into the tournament and see how far you can climb the leaderboard.
Free play starts at 6:00 PM, and the tournament begins promptly at 7:30 PM.
Choose how you want to play:
For $15, enjoy open free play all night, whether you’re running casual games, blitz matches, or just meeting fellow chess lovers. Your ticket includes one drink—alcoholic or non-alcoholic—so you can sip while you strategize.
For $25, step into tournament mode. You’ll get free play access, tournament entry, and a drink included. All tournament players will be paired using our web-based tournament app, making matchups quick and seamless throughout the night.
The tournament is designed to be fast, competitive, and fun. Players can compete in up to 8 rounds, with each game capped at 15 minutes—a win, loss, or draw must be decided within that time. Results are tracked each round, and the player with the highest overall score will be crowned the winner.
And yes—there are prizes on the line.
