🔥 Sankt Hans & BBQ Gathering 🔥Join us for a cozy Sankt Hans celebration and BBQ!
For those who are new to Denmark, Sankt Hans (Midsummer's Eve) is a traditional Danish celebration held on June 23rd. People gather with friends and family to enjoy food, community, and large bonfires that mark the longest days of the year. A unique part of the tradition is that many bonfires include a symbolic witch figure placed on top of the fire. Historically, this was meant to represent sending away evil spirits and bad luck, and today it is generally viewed as a cultural and folkloric custom.
This event brings together both local and international participants from different cultural backgrounds. Through sharing a meal, conversations, and experiencing a Danish tradition together, we create an opportunity for cultural exchange and new connections. Participants are encouraged to share stories about their own traditions, cultures, everyday life, and experiences, while learning about Danish customs and the perspectives of others. The evening offers a chance to build international friendships, strengthen intercultural understanding, and experience a sense of community across cultures.
We'll meet at Valdemarsgade 16A for some BBQ and good company before heading together to the Sankt Hans bonfire in front of Musikkens Hus. The bonfire at Musikkens Hus starts at 20:00.
