Sangeet Sandhya is Melbourne's premier Hindi live music event. In this free public event anyone and everyone is welcome to sing or play an instrument or simply enjoy the program. On any given Sandhya, you will hear everything from Khyaals, Thhumris, Bhajans, Ghazals or old and new movie songs from some of the well accomplished singers in Melbourne. As you know, we have an invited artist for each Sangeet Sandhya - typically someone with a high level of musical ability and experience as a public performer. We're delighted to announce that the invited artist for this edition is our very own Shri Saurabh Mishra, a long-standing member of Sangeet Sandhya community.
Born into a family that cherishes music, Saurabh has been singing even in his earliest memories. He learnt the basics of Hindustani classical music from his father Shri Satyendra Misra. He then undertook intense sur-sādhana with Shri Radheyshyam Gupta OAM for 7 years, and has for the last 15 years, been learning from Jabalpur based Surmani Shri Kuljit Singh Sangar. He has truly come into his own in recent times as a Hindustani classical vocalist, and will be presenting a sequence of vilambit and madhya laya Bandishes.
Please arrive at the venue by 6:45 pm for a sharp 7pm start.
