Kristen Becker Brings “Claus & Affect” to Buffalo: A Wild Holiday Ride Featuring Sandy Claus — Santa’s Older, Gayer, Drunker SisterOne Night Only: December 20th at 7pm | The 9th Ward, Buffalo NY
Comedian, producer, and community force Kristen Becker returns home for a one-night-only holiday spectacle with Claus & Affect, starring Becker as Sandy Claus — Santa’s older, gayer, drunker sister who is finally stepping into her rightful spotlight.
The show will be held December 20th at 7:00 PM at The 9th Ward
Claus & Affect mixes Becker’s razor-sharp stand-up, character-driven comedy, and Sandy Claus’s boozy, unfiltered commentary on the headlines of 2025, all delivered from a North Pole perspective. From political chaos to global absurdities to the latest elf labor disputes, Sandy Claus is here to break the news — and probably break a few traditions along the way.
Kristen Becker quickly became a driving force in Buffalo’s comedic renaissance. As the founding general manager of Helium Comedy Club Buffalo, she helped bring the franchise’s major investment to the city, establishing Buffalo as a legitimate comedy destination and supporting a new generation of local comics.
Becker’s impact reaches far beyond the stage. She has a long record of building community and creating meaningful cultural change, most notably through Summer of Sass, the nonprofit she founded to support LGBTQ+ young adults from unsafe environments. Her leadership helped secure a multi-million-dollar philanthropic gift — one of Provincetown’s largest — expanding the organization’s reach and proving her ability to transform communities wherever she goes.
Now, with Claus & Affect, Becker is once again giving back — using the show to help raise funds for The Queerie Canal, a new Buffalo-based nonprofit providing direct aid to LGBTQ+ individuals and strengthening queer community support networks. A comedian, producer, activist, and co-host of the Queer Times Podcast, Becker continues to make waves nationally — but Buffalo remains the city that shaped her grit, her voice, and her commitment to leaving every community stronger than she found it.
