About this Event
Join the San Francisco Standard for their monthly installment at Manny's!
Would more police officers help San Francisco solve its problems? If so, how should the city pay for them? What should they focus on, if hired?
The San Francisco Police Department has roughly 1,475 full-duty officers, well below a recommended staffing level of 2,074. A wave of retirements is expected to diminish staffing further. In 2024, voters may have their say on a ballot measure to reaffirm a minimum level of police staffing and create a fund for recruiting and retention bonuses. But city officials disagree sharply over how such staffing and incentives should be paid for.
Join District 6 Supervisor Matt Dorsey, San Francisco Standard Editor-in-Chief Julie Makinen and Reporter Michael Barba for a lively conversation about this hotly debated topic.
