This talk will summarize a NIST Office of Advanced Manufacturing supported roadmap effort. The goal of this roadmap is to create in the U.S., a world-leading knowledge base, technical expertise and a staged approach to mmWave material selection, characterization, and test– the first necessary foundation for leading edge 5G and 6G products . Higher levels of performance directly translate, through lower losses and higher linearity, into better range, coverage, and penetration for next-generation U.S. wireless networks, reaching more of the U.S. population and businesses more quickly and economically. This roadmap continues to serve as a foundation of many new activities being undertaken by the Chips and Sciences Act.
About Urmi Ray:
Urmi Ray has been involved in the semiconductor industry for the last 25+ years. Her current focus is leading an industry consortium under the auspices of iNEMI for mmWave RF communications roadmap and materials/testing development. She has worked with multiple organizations including Bell Labs, Qualcomm, StatsChipPac and most recently with Saras Micro Devices, where she was the CTO. She is involved in multiple industry organizations such as Imaps, SEMI, IPC. She is an Imaps Fellow and has a PhD from Columbia University.
