Samhain means βEnd of Summerβ in Celtic. This time will mark the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter, and the darker months. The halfway point between autumn and winter equinoxes, one of the four seasonal Celtic festivals of the year.
Historically, it is a time when the world of gods and spirits are revealed to humans, when the barrier between our worlds thins. At this time, the gods were believed to play many tricks on humans, with spooky and unexplainable occurrences happening. We strengthen our connection to them through music, fire, dance, and offer food and drink to celebrate.
Come dressed as your finest self that shines a light on all that crawls, creeps, floats and tweets. Powerful folk, humble folk, another living thing, or those that are not...To cast your spells upon the land and set your winter intentions. To burn, and move through, all that you do not wish to work with as we shed and head into this new season together...
With special surprises from local artists, and the wider community here in Bristol to keep these ancient traditions alive and to add our own...
