About this Event
Synopsis: Join Dr Alif Moosajee for this full-day, hands-on course that focuses on the clinical application of chairside CAD/CAM workflows for same-day restorative dentistry.
Participants will develop a structured understanding of contemporary CAD/CAM materials, including PMMA, composite resins, glass ceramics, and oxide ceramics, with emphasis on appropriate case selection and predictable clinical outcomes.
Through a combination of theory and practical application, the course will explore the complete workflow—from material selection and restoration design to finishing, staining, glazing, firing, and final placement. Attention is given to common clinical pitfalls, with strategies provided to improve efficiency, aesthetics, and long-term success in daily practice.
Aims: To develop participants’ competence in chairside CAD/CAM restorative workflows by enhancing their understanding of material selection, processing protocols, and aesthetic finishing techniques for predictable same-day dentistry outcomes.
Learning outcomes:
- Critically evaluate the indications, properties, and limitations of CAD/CAM materials including PMMA, composite, glass ceramics, and oxide ceramics.
- Select appropriate materials based on clinical presentation, functional demands, and aesthetic requirements.
- Apply correct production protocols for chairside CAD/CAM restorations to ensure predictable and reproducible outcomes.
- Interpret translucency and shade concepts and translate these into clinically appropriate restorative decisions.
- Demonstrate the use of finishing techniques, including rotary instrumentation, polishing systems, and surface optimisation.
- Apply staining and glazing protocols using coordinated external systems to enhance restoration aesthetics.
- Understand firing processes and correctly operate ceramic furnaces for optimal material performance.
- Integrate restorations into the oral environment using appropriate placement protocols.
- Implement maintenance strategies to support long-term restoration success, including patient-specific preventive approaches.
Learning outcomes aligned to GDC:
