Doors at 6:30, Show at 7:30Trumpeter, composer, & bandleader Samantha Boshnack presents an exciting expansion of her jazz song cycle Uncomfortable Subjects, debuting new material & arrangements with an enthralling, agile five-piece ensemble, Uncomfortable Subtet. In 2020, Boshnack invited artist & activist Natasha Marin & Pushcart-winning poet Jane Wong to join her in a series of correspondences about “uncomfortable subjects.” Over the ensuing pandemic years the three women discussed racism, climate crisis, mental health, fascism, and the tensions of making art, finding hope, and staying connected amid social upheaval. Boshnack wove words & hemes from these conversations and struggles into a suite of seven compositions.Featuring: Samantha Boshnack: trumpet, compositions; Chris Credit: flute and tenor saxophone; Carlos Snaider: electric guitar; Julian Weisman: upright bass; Greg Campbell: drums.
