About Sam Bush:
Long known as the Father of Newgrass, Sam Bush has influenced countless bluegrass and newgrass musicians for decades all the while innovatively stretching the boundaries of the music he loves to share with the world.
A testament to his incredible musicianship and musical influence, an impressive collection of awards has been bestowed upon him. He is a four-time International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Mandolin Player of the Year and one of a few musicians to be inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame more than once: first in 2020 as a member of New Grass Revival, and again in 2023 for his solo career.
In 2009, the Americana Music Association (AMA) presented Sam Bush with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Sam Bush has earned three Grammy Awards and 14 Grammy nominations. Sam has recorded 11 solo albums, 13 with New Grass Revival, and collaborated on numerous projects with icons such as Emmylou Harris, Ronnie McCoury, Edgar Meyer, Joshua Bell, Norman Blake, Vassar Clements, Ricky Skaggs, and Béla Fleck to name a few. His latest recording is Radio John, a tribute to John Hartford, on the Smithsonian label. Sam is also the subject of the 2015 documentary "Revival: The Sam Bush Story", which features commentary from long-time associates Alison Krauss, David Grisman, Ricky Skaggs, The Avett Brothers, and many more.
