FAQ’s
What might I expect?
Classes are structured with a warm-up followed by partnered dancing where you'll learn move sequence as a group. At the middle and end of class there’s an opportunity to catch your breath or enjoy a social dance while incorporating what you’ve learnt into your expanding repertoire. In the higher-level classes, at times, we also include as a Rueda warm-up or at the end of the lesson.

What is Rueda de Casino?
Rueda de Casino (Rueda) is a type of Cuban Salsa round dance that combines fun moves with dynamic partner changes. It is a very festive and social form of Salsa that is led by a caller initiating moves that each couple performs with synchronised timing.
When can I start?
First timers wanting to attend casually will find weeks one or two (of any 4-week block) an easier introduction. Weeks three and four generally include more challenging moves making commencement during these weeks only recommended for those having prior experience or if you are a quick study. A new course commences every 4-weeks; only stopping for a short break over the Christmas-New Year period. For those with prior experience, you are welcome any time.
What to wear?
Comfortable casual clothing and everyday street shoes are all fine to wear. If you do wish to wear dance shoes, please be aware that the floor is fast so can be slippery for plastic or smooth leather soles. Soft rubber-soled cross trainers with a lot of grip are not recommended if you own an alternative. If you don't you are welcome to wear them but be aware they can make turns more difficult. The hall features a large wooden dance floor with air conditioning, fans and heating that we use as required for comfort. We suggest bringing a drink bottle in case you get thirsty. No mirrors are fitted within the teaching space for use during class.
Do I need a partner?
If you don’t have a partner, it’s not a problem. During each lesson we will partner you up with someone and we also rotate partners frequently keeping it social. If you bring your own partner, you will be asked to change partners during the lesson due to the progressive nature of Rueda. That said there is lots of time to practice the moves as couples during and between classes.
Parking:
Ample free parking is available in the lot opposite the hall on Little Myers Street. Entry to the venue is also via Little Myers Street. Look for the big red doors, which open from 6:20pm. If the doors are physically closed, come in, we will be inside.
