🍑 Oletko halunnut kokeilla hauskaa ja hikistä twerkiä? 🍑
Tällä puolentoista tunnin alkeisworkshopilla tutustutaan rennossa ja lämpimässä ilmapiirissä twerkin perustekniikoihin sekä harjoitellaan lyhyttä twerk-koreografiaa. Workshopin opettaa Flaman kannustava twerk-opettaja Salla Siniranta.
Workshop lähtee aivan alkeista, joten sinulla ei tarvitsee olla mitään aiempaa tanssitaustaa. Tässä on oiva paikka tulla kokeilemaan twerkkausta ennen kevätkauden kurssien alkua. Tule rohkeasti mukaan!

🍑 Twerk 🍑
Suuren suosion maailmalla saavuttanut twerk keskittyy lantion alueen liikekieleen. Twerkin juuret ovat erilaisissa afroamerikkalaisissa ja afrikkalaisissa tansseissa, kuten mapoukassa, baikokossa, niikossa ja chakachassa. Orjuuden myötä Afrikan eri maiden, kulttuurien ja heimojen kulttuuriperinteeseen liittyvät tanssit ovat sekoittuneet, eikä twerkin juuria voidakaan liittää vain yhden alueen tai kulttuuriperinteen tansseihin. Twerk-käsitettä alettiin käyttämään 80-luvun lopulla mm. New Orleansin bounce-hiphop-suuntauksen yhteydessä.
Twerk-tunneilla opittuja muuveja voi hyödyntää vaikkapa bileiden tanssilattialla! Tunneilla käydään läpi monipuolisesti erilaisia twerk-tekniikoita, kuten heristelyjä, pyllyn poppailuja sekä lattiatekniikoita. Tuntien alussa lämmitellään ja käydään läpi perusliikkeitä ja lopuksi keskitytään koreografiaan. Twerk kehittää kokonaisvaltaisesti fyysistä kuntoa, erityisesti selkä-, reisi-, pakara- sekä vatsalihaksia.

Salla on opettanut Flamassa twerkiä ja commercial dancea vuodesta 2020. Tanssikokemusta hänelle on kertynyt yli 25 vuoden ajalta hiphopista nykytanssiin. Salla on ollut aktiivisesti Turun tanssiryhmätoiminnassa mukana ja vetänyt myös useampaa omaa ryhmää vuosien ajan. Nykyään hän luotsaa Flaman twerk- ja commercial dance -tanssiryhmää The Honeysia.
Sallan tunneilla tärkeintä on hyvä fiilis, arjen kiireiden unohtaminen, liikkeestä nauttiminen ja ehkä myös itsensä ylittäminen! Twerk-tunneilla oikean ja turvallisen tekniikan opettelu on tärkeää, ja siihen panostetaankin Sallan tunneilla paljon, varsinkin alkeistunneilla.
Salla pyrkii luomaan tunneilleen turvallisen ympäristön, jossa jokainen kokee itsensä tervetulleeksi. Huumoria unohtamatta! Tervetuloa Sallan tunneille matalalla kynnyksellä, juuri sellaisena kuin olet.

This one and a half hour workshop will introduce you to the basics of Twerk! In Salla Siniranta’s Twerk Workshop for Beginners, you will learn the basic techniques of Twerk and practice a short Twerk choreography in a relaxed and warm atmosphere.
The workshop starts from the very basics, so you do not need to have any previous dance background. This is a great opportunity to come and try Twerk before the next course in the spring season start. Feel free to come along!
You do not need previous dance experience to participate in the workshop.

🍑 Twerk 🍑
Twerk, which has gained great popularity in the world, focuses on the movements of the pelvic area. Twerk has its roots in various African American and African dances, including Mapouka, Baikoko, Niko and Chakacha. As a result of slavery, dances related to the cultural traditions of African countries, cultures and tribes have been mixed. That is why the roots of Twerk cannot be associated with the dances of just one region or cultural tradition. The concept of Twerk was introduced in the late 80’s, e.g. in the context of the bounce Hip Hop trend in New Orleans.
Twerk moves can be easily taken to the dance floor and probably that is why it is commonly seen at parties. During Twerk classes, you will get diversely familiar with various techniques, such as shaking, jiggle, thrusting and throwing the hip and bounce as well as some floorwork. At the beginning of the class, there is a warm-up, after which we go through some basic movements. Twerk improves physical fitness comprehensively, especially back, thigh, buttock and abdominal muscles.

Salla has been teaching Twerk and Commercial Dance at Flama since 2020. She has more than 25 years of dancing experience. Salla has lead many performing dance groups and she has been a member in many performing dance groups as well. She now leads Flama’s Twerk and Commercial Dance group The Honeys.
In Salla’s classes, the most important thing is to feel good, to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life, to enjoy the movement and maybe even exceed yourself! Learning the right and safe Twerk Techniques is important to Salla, and a lot of effort is put into it in Salla’s classes, especially in the classes for beginners.
Salla strives to create a safe environment for her classes, so that everyone feels welcome. Without forgetting humor! Welcome to Salla’s class just the way you are.
