About this Event

Pre-Purim Sake Tasting いらっしゃいませ!Irasshaimase (Welcome)!

Come join the Mishkon community for our annual pre-Purim tasting, following Havdalah! This year’s drink is sake, the traditional rice beverage of Japan.

At this fun event, you’ll learn about:

  • Different types of sake
  • The unique brewing process
  • Sake customs and etiquette
  • Sake’s key role in Japanese culture and spirituality

The tasting will be led by Mishkon board member Andy Bender, an award-winning travel and food writer. Andy lived in Japan for years, speaks fluent Japanese, and returns to Japan several times annually to lead tours, especially food tours. He has brought back a sampling of sakes from Japan especially for this tasting, and we’ll also try some locally available bottles.

Tickets are $46 for non-members and cover the tasting, kosher Japanese snacks (including sushi), and your very own sake tasting cup to take home!

Non-alcoholic sake available on request, and soft drinks will be served.

Deadline for RSVPs is Wednesday, February 18 at 5 p.m.
