About this Event
Port Hope had more than its fill of drinking and lodging establishments during its early days as well as the more sedate founding of churches. In 1824 a preacher claimed that Port Hope was “so full of whiskey and sin that it bears the name of ‘Sodom’.” Join us to view Port Hope’s architecture and history through a different lens and decide for yourself if what remains are saints, sinners … or a little of both!
This 90-minute (approximate) tour will take you on an easy 1km stroll past some of the most fascinating landmarks of downtown Port Hope. Our knowledgeable guides will tell you all about the buildings you go by and the people who built, lived, or worked or socialized in, and restored them.
