Join us for an extraordinary evening featuring the premiere of Sailing Ships of Sound, the latest work by prolific Stroud-based composer Crimea Butler-Downton. Despite living with total visual impairment, Crimea composes intricate, large-scale orchestral scores entirely by hand—a feat of immense dedication and creative willpower.

The Performance: Performed by the 37-piece Eluckwa Ensemble and conducted by Max Ireland, this contemporary orchestral work takes the listener on a cinematic journey through sound. The evening will also feature guest vocalist Charlotte Forfar.

Crimea's story contains moments of profound darkness and moments of pure, almost absurd joy. It contains loss, rage, unexpected beauty, and the complicated truth about love — all translated to his music.
