Sahabhāva is a Sanskrit word for coexistence, community, and coming together. Originally a virtual festival which was one of the first Indian classical music and dance events to occur globally during COVID-19, ICMSV continues the concept live with the same intention - to support artists in our community and experience a breadth of artistic disciplinesLink to Event: https://www.icmsv.org/sahabhava.html#/
____________
This year’s Sahabhāva boasts a diverse range of dance and musical traditions from the subcontinent, brought alive here in Vancouver. The evening will unfold with a Kathak recital by Palak Dhiman, followed by an exploration of Khayal and Thumri by Hindustani vocalist Shoumi Roy along with Hriday Buddhdev (Tabla) and Akhil Jobanputra (Harmonium). The second half commences with a Katha-Kirtana (devotional storytelling) recital by Sharvari Somayaji (Carnatic vocals), Shriram Rajagopalan (Violin), and Keerthy Raghavan (Mridangam). To conclude, Dwaipayan Roy (Sarod) will present a medley of ragas with Hriday Buddhdev (Tabla).
