In collaboration with Beartooth Aikido, PFLAG BF is proud to host a FREE in-person safety workshop for the queer community. Attendance is free; however, space is limited, please register following the link below and ensure you have signed the release form. Safety 101 is:
An introduction to managing physical and emotional conflict using the principles of Aikido.
Aikido is:
A Japanese martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba (O’Sensei) in the early 20th century. Its underlying tenets are: protect the world around you, protect your partners, protect yourself.
What to expect:
Relaxation techniques for stressful situations
Getting used to people inside your bubble
How not to get hit
Rolling for beginners
Please:
Wear loose fitting clothing (e.g. T-Shirt or sweatshirt & sweatpants)
Minimal protruding jewelry. Mistakes happen during practice and we don’t want anyone to get scratched or injured.
Bring your preferred form of hydration.
No shoes on the mats. Socks or bare feet are acceptable.
