About this Event
First Responders are some of the most courageous, selfless people in society, but there can be a cost to caring. The demanding nature of the job, impact on relationships, and exposure to trauma can create wounds that are not visible to the naked eye. The rate of suicide amongst First Responders is higher than that of the general population, resulting in far too many lives lost and too many families and friends left devastated.
If you are a First Responder, please join Sertoma Star Services, Inc and The 4th District of the Chicago Police Department for a free 4-hour Suicide Prevention training that will help participants gain confidence in:
• Asking people directly about suicide
• Connecting them to life-saving resources
• Keeping them safe until those resources take over
