W HAT IS SAFETALK?
safeTALK is a half-day training in suicide alertness.
It helps participants recognise a person with thoughts of suicide, instils confidence to start a conversation about suicide, and explains how to get the person to a connection that can help them keep safe.
W HAT WILL I LEARN?
It’s estimated 1 in 5 of us have thoughts of suicide.
Now more than ever we need our community to be alert to suicide. safeTALK training by the Hector’s House team offers you the chance to become aware of the risk that someone you know might be thinking of taking their own life – and will equip you with the confidence and the skills to help that person keep safe.
Our trainer Sarah, alongside a support resource, will take you through this internationally recognised training course in a way that is safe, relaxed and comfortable.
During our training together, you will learn the T-A-L-K method:
Talk
Ask
Listen
Keep Safe
We believe that as many people as possible should learn these skills. By attending safeTALK, you are making your community more suicide safe. You might save a life.
