Safeguarding Level 3 (2 day) Barnstaple

This is a two-day, multi-agency course for identified, named or designated staff with safeguarding responsibilities. Staff working regularly with children and young people have a duty to learn more about safeguarding as specified in Keeping Children Safe in Education.

T he course takes place over 2 days, 0930-1630 both days.

Having completed this course you will be confident in your position as a DSL/DDSL/Named Person within a setting.

• Identify key legislation and guidance underpinning safeguarding children in England.
• Understand the role of the Safeguarding Lead.
• Define the categories, signs, and indicators of abuse and neglect
• Use the Early Help process to be an effective partner.
• Understand the threshold tool and use it effectively.
• Define the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences on behaviour and development.
• Understand Contextual Safeguarding and other types of harm that may affect children.
• Identify the barriers preventing a disclosure and factors that make children more vulnerable to neglect.
• Describe the skills required to effectively listen to, report and manage a disclosure.
• Recognise the importance of good recording and sharing information in relation to safeguarding concerns and allegations.
• Describe the multi-agency relationship and the role of the school.
• Define your establishment’s safeguarding policies and identify any steps your own organisation can take to strengthen the safeguarding arrangements.
• Set up systems in school to ensure compliance.
