SAFE TrainingThis program from MOCSA focuses on training bar staff to recognize potentially harmful situations and give them the tools to intervene effectively to prevent sexual violence and support survivors. We've invited MOCSA to host this training for performers, and they've agreed. All performers are invited to attend, especially drag and burlesque performers and producers. Building safer show environments for performers and audience members is all of our responsibility.
You will leave this one hour training with skills to recognize risky dynamics and situations were assault could occur faster and more effectively. You will learn early intervention, de-escalation, and diversion tactics to safely and effectively prevent sexual violence and support victims. You will receive training materials and connections for ongoing support.
MOCSA’s SAFE (Sexual Assault Free Environment) Training is modeled after similar programs, such as Ask for Angela in Lincolnshire, England and the Safe Bar Alliance in Lawrence, KS. Communities around the world agree that prevention is possible and that partnering with bars and restaurants generates new energy and allies who are eager to prevent sexual violence.
