About this Event
Description
Addie Palayew and Malika Lamont will discuss the findings of their recent co-authored paper, "Acceptability and anticipated effectiveness of a safe supply of opioids among people who inject opioids in King County, WA" in International Journal of Drug Policy. The majority of their sample of nearly 500 people who inject opioids found that a regulated opioid supply would be acceptable to them and believed it would be less risky than the currently unregulated underground drug supply. Participants varied in their preferences of safe supply models with different characteristics (i.e., allowing take-home doses, requiring prescriptions, requiring on-site dosing, etc.). The presenters will discuss the implications of these findings for overdose prevention and will respond to audience questions.
