About this Event

THE GIFT OF MENTAL WELLNESS

This holiday season, Felicia Brookins' S.A.F.E. S.P.A.C.E. TheaterTherapy Foundation and Medgar Evers Library are doing more than giving gifts, we’re giving our youth and teens space to be seen, heard, and supported.

This will be a powerful teen mental health discussion and creative expression event designed to provide a safe space for young people (ages 12-18 years) to talk openly about the emotional realities they face in today’s world. In partnership with Medgar Evers Library’s Annual Christmas Toy Drive, this event brings the community together for both healing and hope.

Topics We'll Explore:
  • Adversity & Trauma in today’s social and political climate
  • Loneliness, Isolation & Lack of Connection—especially around the holidays
  • The Silent Impact of Community Violence on teen mental health
  • Healing Thru Writing : A Letter Writing Project
  • Encouragement When Dealing With Adversity
  • Theater as Emotional Expression ( Short Skit)

This is not therapy, but a therapeutic space—where teens can breathe, speak freely, and connect with others who understand. We’ll engage in guided discussion, creative writing exercises, and emotional check-ins that promote empathy, empowerment, and emotional release.

Christmas Toy Drive

We encourage all attendees and families to bring a new, unwrapped toy to support the Medgar Evers Library Christmas Toy Drive. Let’s come together to bring joy to local children while holding space for those who may be struggling silently.

Who Should Attend:
  • Teens navigating anxiety, grief, or overwhelming emotions
  • Young people affected by violence, trauma, or family instability
  • Those craving connection, creativity, and compassion
  • Parents or youth mentors (limited seating)

? Why This Matters:

In a time when youth are dealing with rising emotional pressure, political unrest, and social disconnection, community support is everything. This event is a reminder that healing can happen when we come together—with honesty, with empathy, and with intention.

?️ Reserve your spot now — space is limited to protect the intimacy of this conversation
