Join us for a special lecture by Oakland-based artist Sadie Barnette, who will discuss her project the New Eagle Creek Saloon (2019-ongoing). Honoring the legacy of the Eagle Creek Saloon, the first Black-owned gay bar in San Francisco, which her father founded in the early 1990s, Barnette reanimates the bar as a communal hub and gathering place, celebrating its resistant, joyous spirit. This program is free with registration. Bar Room will be open for event patrons to enjoy from 5:00–8:00 PM.
