Join RCWA as we clean a large riparian area along the Sacramento River. This spot has amazing views of the river, but there is a good deal of trash accumulation that needs to be removed. Located in the South Land Park/Little Pocket neighborhood, we will gather at the public entrance gate off of Riverside Blvd, just south of 35th Avenue. Parking will be available in the nearby neighborhood (Surf Way, Capstan Way). Some limited parking may also be available in the gravel directly in front of the event site. Look for RCWA signs. This event is being co-sponsored by City Council Member Rick Jennings, with support from the City of Sacramento's Neighborhood Cleanup Grant Program, and in cooperation with the City's Department of Utilities and the City's Youth, Parks and Community Enrichment (YPCE) Department.
This event is suitable for ages 12 and older. Any minors must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult throughout the event.
We will provide bags, but please bring along your waders and/or sturdy, mud-resistant footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves - a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. We will not be entering the water during this event.
As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
Overall, be safe, have fun and get some “Exercise with a Purpose” as Bill Templin says.
Thank you!💚
