The Sacramento Latino Book & Family Festival (LBFF) is back for its third year, bringing together thousands of families, authors, and community organizations for a day of culture, literacy, and celebration.
Last year’s festival welcomed more than 4,000 attendees. The LBFF empowers our community by increasing access to vital health, education, literary, and community resources while bringing families together in a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of literacy, cultura, and community.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:
*Dolores Huerta – Renowned labor leader, civil rights activist, and co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union. Scheduled to speak at 12:30 PM - Main Gym.
*Graciela Tiscareño-Soto (“Captain Mama”) – United States Air Force Aviator Veteran and author of the bilingual Captain Mama book series.
*David Aguilar – Television writer and producer with credits on CBS’s Matlock, S.W.A.T., and the History Channel.
-HEALTH Village will have 10+ health booths providing a variety of free health services.
-EDUCATION Village will have 20+ educational institutions providing info and school connections.
-COMMUNITY Village with 35+ booths will have community resources, financial empowerment services, and programs looking to engage with the community.
-CHILDREN'S Village helps build a foundation for children with information and access to preschools and county libraries.
-AUTHORS Village exposes attendees to Latino authors and books by and about Latinos, which encourages the love of reading.
The event will also feature lowriders, live music, Latino authors, and Latino-serving organizations, along with a special performance by Mariachi Los Claveles, a Woodland-based youth nonprofit teaching the art of mariachi to local youth.
This event is FREE and includes author meet and greets, inspiring keynotes, workshops, book readings, dance performances, arts, and craft activities, free health services and exhibitors.
