We're kicking off the 16th Annual Sac Open Studios with a free Launch Party at our gallery and studio project Thursday, September 9 from 6 to 9 pm with local eats and drinks, live art, and music. Meet participating Sac Open Studios artists and view 150+ artworks installed salon-style in Verge's classroom. This event will also mark the opening of our fall exhibition, Rhodascope: Scribbles, Smears, and the Universal Language of Children According to Rhoda Kellogg. Curated by Jordan Stein and Lindsey White and featuring drawings from the Rhoda Kellogg International Child Art Collection, drawings by Rhoda Kellogg and paintings by Brian Belott.
RHODASCOPE brings together approximately 200 artworks from the Rhoda Kellogg International Child Art Collection of the Golden Gate Kindergarten Association / Phoebe Hearst Preschool selected by Belott; Belott’s own child art “forgery” paintings; and several of Kellogg’s original artworks, produced during her final years.
This exhibition was previously organized by the San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries and originally presented at San Francisco City Hall in 2019-20.
